Awards, Premiums, and Auction Information for the Youth Show
All awards will be presented during the Awards Ceremony held in the Franks Building to be held at 1:00 on Sunday, August 17.
Livestock shows - 1st place - $100; 2nd place - $60; 3rd place - $40; trophies will be presented to the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion in each show; each animal shown will be awarded a ribbon using the Danish System. Poultry and Rabbit show will receive premiums of $5, 3, and 2 for winners.
Showmanship – 1st place - $25; 2nd place - $15; 3rd place - $10; Each species will have it’s own showmanship competition which will be judged during the showing of the animals in the show itself. The Showmanship Competition will be held during KIDS DAY, on Wednesday, August 13.
Record Books – 1st place - $25; 2nd place - $15; 3rd place - $10
Posters – 1st place - $15; 2nd place - $10; 3rd place - $5
Outstanding Exhibitor Award - $25; daily awards - $5 Exhibitors must be present in the livestock barns area daily between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to be considered for this daily award.
Each day points will be awarded to each exhibitor toward an Outstanding Exhibitor Award to be presented during the awards ceremony. Points will be based on the cleanliness of their pens/stalls and their care of their animal(s) and interaction with the public and other exhibitors. Daily winners will be recognized by having a banner exhibited on their pen/stall. If pens/stalls and animals are maintained and cared for by someone other than the exhibitor, points will not be awarded and exhibitor will be disqualified from this competition.
Sale of Champions – The auction will begin with the grand champion of each show to be sold selling first. Then the remaining animals will be sold in their order of finish in their class, i.e. reserve champion, third place, etc. The sale this year shall be in the following: goat, sheep, swine, and beef with the market classes going first. Each year the order will rotate among the species.
The Sale of Champions is open only to those exhibitors from Boyd County that showed in the Boyd County Only shows.
All auction checks are to be made payable to the Boyd County Fair.
All checks to exhibitors shall be held until animal is loaded out on Sunday, August 17, 2008 and pen/stall is cleaned out to the satisfaction of the livestock show officials.
Any loan amount owed to the Boyd County fair will be deducted from auction/premium checks, as will any amounts owed for not cleaning pens on time.
